Well... this film was slightly weird...
After watching another film by Paul Schrader (Blue Collar), this film I did not enjoy so much. Just a little too weird and creepy for me.
But not bad. 6/10

American Graffiti
I'd been meaning to watch this one for a while, and I was expecting a lot.
I found the setting to be extremely strange – all these 18-year-olds driving around in cars, not really doing anything.
The small town vibe was oppressive, and while I can see how someone might be nostalgic for this kind of childhood, I just couldn't relate to any of the characters who didn't want to get the hell out of that town.
It frustrated me to see characters who had an opportunity to leave and go to college, who didn't. The ending saved the film for me, and I did enjoy the sense of pathos. 7/10

Dr. Strangelove
Yeah... this is one of those films that I should have watched ages ago, but just didn't get round to.
I thought it was funny in parts. Peter Sellers was amazing in it (in all of his parts), but the plane scenes were so long and drawn out. The effects during the plane scenes have dates so badly, whereas the scenes from inside the base and the war room look so clean and ahead of their time.
Nice to see James Earl Jones on the plane! 7/10

Blue Collar
This film was a little rough around the edges, but I really loved it.
The final scene was spectacular. Will write more later. 8/10

The King of Comedy
I've been getting annoyed with myself recently -- sitting watching YouTube for hours. Watching pointless videos that make me feel nothing but depression and emptiness.
So I'm going to try to get back into watching more films, and trying to blog a bit better about them.
So I came home from work yesterday, and I was tired, but I decided to put this film on. And I'm really glad I did, because it was one hell of a ride. I'd heard about the film before, and always thought (incorrectly) that it was just a straightforward comedy about a comedian.
It wasn't.
It was a strange film about obsession and fame. It was disturbing, and it felt a little bit like Taxi Driver, like there was this violence, aggression or madness bubbling underneath the surface of it all, that at any point it would all just come gushing out.
But I really enjoyed this. I spent most of my time watching it with my hand on my head and my mouth open in incredulity. 8/10
