American Graffiti

I'd been meaning to watch this one for a while, and I was expecting a lot.

I found the setting to be extremely strange – all these 18-year-olds driving around in cars, not really doing anything.

The small town vibe was oppressive, and while I can see how someone might be nostalgic for this kind of childhood, I just couldn't relate to any of the characters who didn't want to get the hell out of that town.

It frustrated me to see characters who had an opportunity to leave and go to college, who didn't. The ending saved the film for me, and I did enjoy the sense of pathos. 7/10
